Hands On Kyoto was launched in December of 2010. The purpose was to create a website providing content and information to facilitate a deeper connection between local Kyoto businesses and tourists. After noticing there was a lack of adequate English explanations concerning popular sights and destinations, I thought it would be helpful to provide logistical information and details along with some historical knowledge. At this point in time however, we are not involved in directly making reservations or providing tours.
 
Hands On Kyoto also realises efficient use of time is critical, and tourists not only need to know what’s available but what information they can trust. By providing content with a focus on local artisans, businesses and people who possess a passion to share their unique cultural perspectives, Hands On Kyoto envisions creating opportunities to promote educational and enjoyable experiences for visitors looking for a more authentic or deeper experience.

In regards to Hands On Kyoto, Greg Koch is the owner and handles website management and creation of content.
 

I look forward to deepening my understanding of Kyoto and increasingly creating more content as the months and years pass by. Honestly, this endeavour gives me a reason to delve deeper into one of the most culturally rich cities in the world, and by virtue of this hopefully others will be interested in joining us in our journey to get our “Hands on Kyoto.”
 

Through continued efforts, Hands On Kyoto intends to make incremental adjustments to improve the quality and enjoyment of our website and all of its content. In the pursuit of this goal we realise how important our audience’s feedback is. In this regard, please feel free to make any suggestions or comments on existing content or better yet, propose new ideas for content you would like to see.
