Non-Japanese Food
A large part of discovering Japan lies in trying Japanese food. However, unknown to many is the existence of other high quality international restaurants in Kyoto.
Istanbul
This is a great restaurant in Kyoto. The staff are friendly and I am always impressed by the Turkish spices used in the meat. They
also provide English menus.

Location
From the northeast corner of Sanjo/Kawaramachi intersection walk north along Kawaramachi Street. After walking a 1-2 minutes you’ll
come across a church on your right hand side. You’ll know you’re in the right place if you can see the 7 Eleven convenience store across the street. Turn right onto the street that runs parallel to the church and you’ll see the Istanbul restaurant sign on the 3rd floor.

Yak & Yeti (Nepalese Food)
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kyoto. The staff are really friendly and the food is incredible. Nepalese food is very similar to Indian food with many curries, but this restaurant offers a few unique dishes. They offer a dish called Momo-mouth watering Nepalese gyoza. They also offer a few fushion dishes that mix Japanese ingredients such as soba noodles along with Nepalese sauces etc. English menu is also available.

Location
The Yak & Yeti is located on the next street west of the Teramachi Shopping Arcade. From Shijo Street walk north along Gokomachi Street. Yak & Yeti is on your right hand side just before the entrance to the Nishiki market. Lookfor the characteristic Nepalese flag hanging in front of the white and red building.
